STORIES FOR LIFE COUNSELLING

I am a professional, fully insured counsellor and a member of the BACP, which means that I work within their ethical framework. I hold a foundation degree in Transactional Analysis in Humanistic Counselling (Distinction), a certificate in online and telephone counselling and a level 4 qualification in suicide prevention. I offer online counselling to adults and those over the age of 16.
Transactional Analysis (TA) is a psychological theory developed by Eric Berne which is used to understand how we became who we are today and how we interact with others. Each client who enters therapy is individual and unique with their own personality and story to tell, my intention is to endeavour to enter my client's world and understand their own personal experience with curiosity. TA acts as a lense through which I am able to examine and reflect on, and which aids as guidance when considering possible treatment plans. The great thing about TA is that it has been designed to be understood by everyone and you don't have to hold a special qualification to be able to apply it to your life. This means that I am able to share some of the theory with clients, when it might be helpful. Clients don't always find theory helpful (we are all different) and that is fine too, therapy is not a 'one size fits all'.
During my time as a trainee counsellor, I worked in addiction therapy and also with clients who had suffered abuse. I now combine private practice with working for an agency based in Southampton and my experience covers a wide range of issues and a diversity of clients. One of the things I enjoy most about my job is that there is always more to learn, and I regularly undertake CPD and have regular supervision with a fully qualified and experienced supervisor, which is a requirement for BACP members.
If your issue is not mentioned, I may still be able to help or make a recommendation to someone who can.
Both short and long term counselling available.
Issues I work with include: Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Child related issues, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, Loss, Mood disorder, Personal development, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self-esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexuality, Stress, Substance Dependency, Trauma, Work related issues
